Scitech Precision Products
A wide variety of target types are available, a small selection of the most commonly requested geometries are featured below. Scitech Precision Ltd have experience in the delivery of bespoke targets designs and we would welcome the opportunity to discuss your individual needs.

Cone Targets
Scitech Precision has considerable experience in producing a variety of cone designs building on an extensive R&D project for the mass production of cones with a number of different geometries (variable parameters include size, wall thickness and cone angle). Novel cone designs can be incorporated in to the production process and integrated into more complex target assemblies e.g. cone-wires, stand-off foils, foam filled cones.

Hohlraums
Building on Scitech Precision’s experience in cone production, a wide range of hohlraum configurations can be also produced. Batch production of up to 50 hohlraums enables delivery of reproducible, consistent target components for IFE (Inertial Fusion Energy) research. These can either be incorporated into an assembly or supplied as components to the customer for integration into a target.

X-ray Backlighter Targets
Mass produced backlighters
Stand alone backlighter targets can be mass produced in batches of up to 200. Scitech Precision has experience in reducing complex multi-step assemblies into single component design for rapid final assembly. These components can also be adapted for supply to high repetition-rate laser systems.
Backlighter/Shock target assemblies
Integrated backlighter shock target assemblies can be produced. Detailed targets can be fabricated taking into account individual facility laser geometries for maximum target performance. Targets can be designed to include shielding and alignment aids if required.

Thin foil ion acceleration targets
Thin foils are routinely used in ion acceleration experiments. Scitech Precision has experience in producing foils varying in thickness from 5 nm upwards. Using novel mounting techniques, ultra flat targets can be produced for single shot or high repetition rate experiments. Please contact us for information on materials or foil specifications.

Novel Target Assemblies
Scitech Precision has carried out a large number of R&D projects to deliver a wide range of novel target geometries. Our team have experience in working closely with experimental scientists to understand the desired goals of the programme. Scitech Precision staff can interpret the experimental aims to advise and deliver the optimum target design for your campaign.
Novel targets have included x and z pinch, cylindrical shock compression targets, embedded wire, and X-ray Thomson scattering.

Multi-Layer Foils
Multilayer foils are typically used as targets for investigation of electron transport mechanisms in Advanced Fast Ignition research. Thicker coatings can be produced in the ranges from 1-10 μm depending on material in a number of layers. Please contact us for information on available configurations or materials.

Filters
X-ray and optical filters are typically used to minimise background noise in plasma physics experiments. A range of X-ray and optical filters can be produced; these can be metallic plastic or a combination. Plastic (parylene) support can be supplied for ultra-thin (<100 nm) metallic filters. Please contact us with your filter requirements.
Pinhole arrays
Single pinholes and multiple pin hole arrays and for a range of pinhole cameras are available. Aperture sizes range from 5 μm to 200 μm can be supplied. A range of filtering options can be incorporated to fit the pinhole camera design.
